Huntington Beach, CA, August 11, 2012 (Press Release) – The Campaign to Elect Edward C. Pinchiff to the Huntington Beach Union High School District Governing Board announced today that Edward Pinchiff is officially a candidate.  Mr. Pinchiff successfully filed nomination papers with the Registrar of Voters for Orange County qualifying Mr. Pinchiff to be placed on the November ballot in the Cities of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster.

When asked about his candidacy, Edward Pinchiff said,

I am not a career politician.  I am in this race for my family and yours.  It’s about the kids and ensuring that our High School District provides a top-tier education in a safe environment.

Education is the key to opportunity for our children, our community, and the future.  I will work to enhance the student learning experience with upgraded technology, small class sizes, challenging core curricula, and increased support for struggling students.  I will support our teachers with opportunities for professional development and skill workshops so they are more effective in the classroom.

I believe in the power of education to create opportunity for our children’s future, to make their lives more meaningful, and to help our communities prosper.

The Huntington Beach Union High School District is governed by a Board consisting of five members elected by voters within the High School District.  The Board provides citizen oversight of the schools within the District.

The Huntington Beach Union High School District includes six traditional high schools, one continuation high school, two alternative schools, and one adult school.  These schools serve about 16,000 students in the City of Huntington Beach and parts of the Cities of Westminster and Fountain Valley.

Schools within the Huntington Beach Union High School District include: Huntington Beach High School, Westminster High School, Fountain Valley High School, Marina High School, Edison High School, Ocean View High School, Valley Vista High School, Community Day School, Coast High School, and Huntington Beach Adult School.

As part of the filing of his nomination papers, Edward Pinchiff took his oath of affirmation and also filed his official Candidate Statement which states,

As a long-term resident of Huntington Beach raising two future HBHSD students, I want to ensure that our children receive a top-tier college preparatory curriculum and practical vocational training in a safe environment.

I stand for Educational Excellence, a Safe Learning Environment, Sound Fiscal Management, and Government Transparency.

Education is the key to opportunity for our children, our community, and the future.

The State is in a fiscal emergency and every dollar is precious.  I will insist on fiscally responsible oversight and protection of your tax dollars.  The District must budget responsibly.  All spending should be analyzed in terms of its contribution to student learning.

As an advocate for government transparency, I will have an open door and keep parents, students, and the community fully informed.

Our children can’t learn if they don’t feel safe.  I will promote a safe school environment with strong programs to prevent bullying, gang violence, and drug use.  Parents deserve to feel secure entrusting a school with the well-being of their child.

I ask for your vote.  For more information, go to www.edwardpinchiff.com or call 714-989-6005.
